NGR Pty Ltd was formed in 2002 as an initiative between the leading agribusinesses of ABB and GrainCorp. Together these founding shareholders have funded the development and initial operation of the NGR system. NGR Pty Ltd continues to manage the NGR system.

ABB Grain/Viterra
In September 2009, leading Australian and Canadian agribusinesses ABB Grain and Viterra reached an historic agreement to combine their operations.  By coming together, ABB Grain and Viterra have created a world-class agricultural company with an expanded global reach and presence.

Viterra provides premium quality ingredients to leading global food manufacturers.  Headquartered in Canada, the global agribusiness has extensive operations across Western Canada, Australia and New Zealand, with Adelaide, Australia as the base for Viterra's Southeast Asian operations. 

The company's growing international presence also extends to operations in the United States, offices in Japan, Singapore, China, Switzerland and India.

Viterra's expertise, close relationships with producers, and superior logistical assets allow the company to consistently meet the needs of the most discerning end-use customers, helping to fulfil the nutritional needs of people around the world.

GrainCorp Limited
Graincorp operates up to 280 grain storage sites and a network of seven bulk grain export elevators, across regional Queensland, NSW and Victoria.

The Graincorp grain storage network has a capacity of up to 20 million tonnes, and the port elevators have the capacity to handle up to 15 million tonnes of grain per year.  The company handles up to 1.5 million tonnes of non-grain products at its port elevators, and is the largest importer and distributor of bulk soybean meal.

Graincorp buys up to 3.5 million tonnes of grain each year from growers.  Wheat, barley, sorghum and canola is sold by Graincorp Trading to domestic and international grain consumers in bulk and containers.

Graincorp owns Canada Malting Company (Montreal, Thunder Bay (Ontario) and Calgary), Great Western Malting (Pocatello, Idaho and Vancouver, Washington), Bairds Malt (Grantham, Witham, Pencaitland, Arbroath and Inverness) and Barrett Burston Malting (Toowoomba, Thornleigh, Burnley and Geelong), making Graincorp the world's fourth largest producer of malt for the brewing, distilling and food sectors.
